Informative speaking introduces the audience to a topic of the student’s choosing. The speaker should provide unique insights and explore interesting implications. Topics may range from an organization, to a product, a process, or concept. Effective speeches provide new information or perspectives on a topic. The contestant presents his/her own composition of which no more than 10% is direct quotation. The intent of the speech is to inform, and most speeches are supported by a series of visual aids. Students perform the same selection at every tournament during the season.
