Students choose a speech that was delivered by someone else, and analyze why the speech is considered to be "great" by using a rhetorical model. Through this analysis, the speaker proves to their audience that the speech is important and great. A minimum of 25% of the presentation must be the contestant’s own material. A contestant must justify the selection of the speech and include information about the speaker, subject, original audience, and occasion. Statements, analysis, and exposition may be interspersed throughout. Research is required. Students perform the same selection at every tournament during the season.
